When I turned my blog self-hosted, I decided to no longer write about awards. I found that I would go months without any, and then suddenly in a week I would receive 4. However, I have decided to take some of the best questions that I’ve been asked and put them together.
Hoi Yin Li – The Sunshine Blogger Award
A lifestyle blog showcasing a great range of topics and opinion. Hoi Yin delves into interesting conversation on beauty – like no longer using dry shampoo, as well as sharing all the amazing places that she visits – with great travel tips.
Do you have any unpopular opinions?
I don’t like a lot of celebrities that other people adore. Or I don’t look up to them and think how amazing they are. I only like avocado if it’s turned into guacamole or mixed well in a recipe. And I don’t like most of the articles on websites aimed at young people.
Where is the furthest place that you have travelled to so far, and why?
Miami a few years back. I had wanted to go ever since Will Smith told me why it was amazing. I wrote a post on my experience here: My Holiday in Miami.
Do you have a daily morning ritual before you officially start your day?
I squeeze lemon into my water and have a large glass. I do a bit of stretching as well and check my emails on my phone before I take a shower.
Beyoutiful – The Beauty/Makeup Tag
One of my longest and closest blog friends. Also a favourite blog. A wide mix of fashion, beauty, travel, culture and food. The best recipes and nature photography. I also like that each post is diverse to the last: Beyoutiful
Will you leave the house without makeup?
Yes, but preferably with a good hair day. I’m most likely to apply mascara and some coverage under my eyes, Lately, I wear red lipstick all the time.
Do you like trying out new skincare products or do you stick to a routine?
When I had bad acne, I used to hate skincare. I tried out so many brands and I always remember the disappointment. Now however, I really enjoy trying different things. It’s interesting to see what’s out there.
Name a makeup crime that you hate:
Spider lashes and wearing thick, black eyeliner under your eyes with no makeup on your eyelids.
Maggie in the Moon – Sunshine Blogger Award
Maggie is super talented at applying makeup! She blends eye shadow beautifully and creates awesome looks. Her blog is “for all things fashion, beauty, inspo & cool stuff for it girls and guys”.
Do you think social media is mostly used for positive or negative purposes?
I think it’s a mix of both. Wearing revealing clothing for example – that could be for attention and feeling insecure, or it could be a liberating, confident act. Social-media is what people are drawn to because it’s in our faces. And it’s easy to feel bad about yourself, if you evaluate your self-worth and esteem from it.
If you try to connect with other people and utilise the tool to express yourself – it’s an amazing thing. I think too many are caught up on likes and acclaim.
What is/are your pet peeve(s)?
People that are hot and cold. I would rather someone just be horrible 24/7, instead of randomly going from nice to mean.
I also can’t stand selfishness. People who only take themselves into consideration. And I find it weird when people talk about how amazing they look in a photo caption of themselves.
What lesson/piece of wisdom you’ve acquired do you wish you could tell your younger self?
Stop letting others dictate your capabilities. You know yourself well enough to be able to choose what you want in life and how you want to live. Also, it’s not a race. You are not a failure because you haven’t got married or done whatever at a certain age.
P.S – cutting the Daily Mail out of your life is the best decision you will make. It’s time-constraining and filled with pointless stuff.
These are some of the best questions that I’ve been asked; what are your best questions? And with social-media overall – are you swaying between positive or negative?

Ah love this post! First of all, thanks for tagging me and for the lovely comment! So glad that we are such close blogging friends and love your posts as well ❤️ Enjoyed getting to know more about you and we are so alike! Those two are also my pet peeves, and you are so right on. I hate ppl being selfish and strong minded that they can’t even take a sec to compromise even a bit. Esp when it comes to guys, really don’t like inconsistency. Either you are all all in or all out. I also drink a lot of lemon water which really helps for digestion and weight loss.
I’m also obsessed with red lipstick and just can’t leave the house without it lol.
Great piece of advice girl! Awesome answers
Haha! People don’t talk about this weird beauty thing enough. If you only put makeup on your lower lashes or under eyes, you basically accentuate dark circles. And mine are dark enough as it is! x
Love the idea for this! I don’t do award posts straight away so they always end up building up and I never know what to do with them. Definitely going to keep this one in mind! Great answers too .xx
Thank you girl! Back when I was on Lauzies Lifestyle, I used to do: The Entertainer Award 2 etc, and it just got too much. And then I lost track of some and I thought it’s rude to only write about a few and not others.
So this is a good method. xx
Great questions and I loved your answers. <3
Thank you Cherilyn 🙂
Loved this post girl! Amazing answers and aww, so kind of you to say those wonderful things about me and my blog. So happy that were best blog friends <3 Yes, I also dislike blowing hot and cold as well as selfishness. Can really relate to all of your answers. Really enjoyed reading more about you and looking forward to more posts like these <3 🙂
I will have to do a Q&A or something at some point. I’m glad you like my answers and hopefully there’s many more of these posts for years to come…for both of us! x
I love Will Smith so I can see why you took his advice to go to Miami!
Thank you for answering some of my questions, they were enjoyable to read and it was nice to get to know you more. 🙂
I’m glad you liked my answers. The Will Smith part was kind of my sarcasm because he sung about Miami. And as kid I loved the song and was like yep – I’m going there one day!
Oh lol. I’m awful when it comes to sarcasm through text. Do you follow him on Instagram? He’s such a great character. X
I don’t actually – I don’t follow any celebs. But I do sometimes see his videos and stuff shared. xx
Love this idea! I find award posts and tags to be very repetitive (with a few exceptions) and only do them if I feel like my answers could interest my readers in any way. I love that the WordPress community is as tight-knit as it is, it’s so easy to build a relationship to your readers. That’s why I think that in the future I’ll stick to doing Q&A’s because those are questions readers really want to know about you. xx
I’ve never done a Q&A before. But it makes much more sense because people can read what they actually want to know.
I agree the awards are repetitive. And once I know that most of the bloggers I speak to have done them, I have no clue who to nominate. xx
This is a great post idea! As much as I love the community aspect of awards, I always find them really boring when I write them (for people to read) and never actually do them – but picking some of the best questions from an award tag is great 🙂 xxx
I think the awards can get quite repetitive as well. And I don’t want to have a part 6 or part 7 on one thing.
So I thought this would be a bit different. 🙂 xx
