You can’t beat a romantic spa night at home for a hot ‘staying in’ date. Forget Netflix and chill! Lockdown had us being creative – who knew lounges could become cocktail bars, restaurants and jazz clubs?! While fun, a spa feels more compelling. Maybe it’s the fact massages combine sensuality with pleasure and relaxation in one. It’s pure indulgence minus food bloat, washing up and bad hangovers.
According to Medical News Today, research suggests giving and receiving a massage from a partner can significantly improve ‘stress’ and both ‘physical and emotional well-being’ – so who says you need a professional.
Search engine results show most home massage sets offer basic travel size items (like body lotion) with little surprises to unpack. I believe they cater more to women wanting a pamper as oppose to couples hoping for a romantic/steamy night. And that’s where Ruby Fuse comes in.

Romantic spa night at home… with a twist

Unwrapping the box
What begins as discreet packaging, unravels to a beautifully curated arrangement of premium products. Being as impatient as I am, I took everything out at once and of course, went straight for a chocolate truffle. Don’t follow my lead however as I highly recommend reading the guidebook first – it isn’t one of those instruction manuals you put to the side.
The guidebook reveals the box’s luxury and detail. Every product carefully chosen: Soft 100% cotton massage towels and white waffle slippers, natural oils and butters in the massage candle, paraben free and vegan massage lubricant, hand-made, fair-trade, vegan-friendly truffles. Even the batteries add a special touch.
If the idea of giving a massage feels nerving, the book explains everything you need to know in easy terms. There is a section on sensual massage techniques, a step-by-step on how to create your intimate night, followed by guidance on using the massage candle and selected sex toys. I love the variety. Rather than just unravelling a spa kit, the added sexual element makes a point in saying – this is a couples romantic spa night at home, it’s both loving and erotic.
Ruby Fuse boxes are designed to be used more than once. In the guidebook, you’ll find a ‘Make it More’ section in red which suggests how to maximise the experience. The advice is great to experiment with.
My romantic spa night
Lying on my towels, my date massaged my body with his hands before moving to try the wooden massage tool. Both of us liked applying strong pressure and using it against our backs. I liked the tool on my upper legs as well while he wasn’t so keen.
A favourite of ours has to be the vibrating pleasure balls. They come with a wired multi-speed remote which your partner can control. I put a blindfold on when using and that led to heightened intensity. We loved trying the P Spot Massager together and found the overall switch from candles and massage to sexual pleasure, exciting and fun.
Anything to consider?
Although the slippers fit my feet, they were much too small for my date’s. They are sized as unisex hotel/spa standard. Another consideration: The chocolate in the MassaGe Experience doesn’t come in milk. My date isn’t a fan of dark.
Overall Value
Me and my date agreed the set provides fantastic value. We’d happily use and recommend to any other couple looking for a way to switch up their dates with a romantic spa night at home.
